Shopify Help Article "Product Details"
Product Detail
- Title: Name of the product displayed the customer.
- Description: Important information that will be displayed to the customer, accepts html for layout of information.
- Media: This is where thumbnails for the product will be uploaded.
- Category: Uses shopify's taxonomy to display the category that the product can be found.
- Active: Product will be displayed in the store.
- Draft: Product can be developed with it being displayed in the store.
- Archive: Product will no longer be sold or displayed in the store.
- Sales Channels: These are the ways a product can be sold. You will want to have all options selected which they should be by default.
- Markets: These are the countries that a product can be sold and shipped to. You will want to have all options selected which they should be by default.
- Price: Use the non-member price, member pricing is based on this price minus 30%.
- Compare-at price: Used to control strikethrough price on POS devices, should be the same as Price unless instructed otherwise.
- Type: Custom categories used to organize products.
- Vendor: Always use American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
- Collections: Theses are ways to group products for discounts and displays.
- Tags: Used for filtering products.
- SKU: This is the product code that will be synced to the LMS *IMPORTANT make sure this matches or customers will not be able to access their material in the LMS.
- Track Quantity: This is used to track inventory for physical products. *IMPORTANT make sure inventory is only added to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine unless instructed otherwise. The only time product should be added to another location is for an in-person event where product will be sold on-site.
- Locations: Make sure to remove all locations except for American Academy of Sleep Medicine by clicking "Edit Locations" and unchecking all the other options. *IMPORTANT having additional locations that aren't be actively used will cause problems with order fulfillments.
- This is a physical product: Check this box if the product will need to be shipped to the customer.
- Weight: Weight in pounds for the product.
- Option name: Name for the option such as Size
- Option values: Values for the types of variants such as Small, Medium, Large.
- *IMPORTANT care should be taken when creating variants.
- Additional information for Variant setup: Shopify Help Article "Adding Variants"
- Category Metafields: These fields will be automatically populated.
- Product Metafields:These fields are used to filter products and cause things to display properly.
- Checkout Blocks Trigger: Use "My Learning Button", this will cause a banner to appear upon checkout that will link them learn.
- Free for Members: Makes the product free for members.
- Continuing Education: Used for filtering products by earnable credit types.
- CME/AASM CEC/AANP/AAPA CME/AARC/ ABIM MOC/ABOHNS MOC/ABP MOC/ABPN MOC/CNE: Used for displaying available credit amounts.
- My Learning URL: This is the URL to access the product on LEARN. The url will always be https://learn.aasm.org/URL/Authenticated/Product/{ProductCode} where {ProductCode} will be the same code entered for the SKU and LMS.
- Preview Video URL: This is the URL that will be used to display the video.
- Publish Start Date: Used to track the Start Date.
- Expiration Date: Used to track the Expiration Date.
Digital Products
To create a digital product make sure it is not marked as physical, has no inventory assigned to it, and has all the proper metafields populated (Checkout Blocks Trigger, My Learning URL).
Physical Products
To create a physical product make sure it is marked as physical, marked as Track Quantity, has inventory assigned to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine location and has a weight.
