How (and when) to send to a Publication list

What is a Publication list?

A Publication list is designed to respect user email preferences so they receive only mailings they want to be sent to them.

When to send to a Publication list

Send to a publication list when you want to target a specific list that users have opted into.

Ex: you want to send to people who are opted into receiving "Important Updates" emails

How to send to a Publication list

When you have your data extension setup and ready, select an email and create a send, when you arrive at the "Select an Audience" screen, choose your data extension and drag it into the Targeted box on the right. Once you do this a pop-up box will appear prompting you to select a publication list

From here, choose the list you want to target - in this example we will select "Important Updates"

**You can only target ONE publication list at a time**

Once you've chosen your publication list and clicked Select, you will see the update in the right box

**You can also change your publication list with the "Change" button in the right corner (shown below)

Once you see the publication list chosen, you can proceed with the send as you normally would, and the email will only be sent to those who have opted into receiving "Important Updates" emails
